| Broadband
provides an example of how we apply
our understanding of access technologies
in a strategic and planning context.
We are able to put the broadband
aspirations of our clients in context
and determine ways that they can
meet their objectives.
A focus of our work
is how to justify broadband provision
in an economic context. We work
in the UK and other countries with
central government including agencies
and local government, to identify
problem areas, develop plans and
conduct activities to address these.
We worked with the Countryside Agency
regarding Broadband in rural areas
and produced a Best Practice Study
for the Agency.
We provide the
economic and technical analysis
for the
development
of networks
to serve out-of-reach domestic and
business communities, typically
based on local partners, public
sector backhaul and wireless transmission.
This is based on our tools that
analyse the availability of supply
and level of demand. We are able
to map supply from national providers
in the UK at a postcode level for
graphical presentation. We can also
map latent demand from businesses
and domestic users to clusters of
postcodes, and provide an understanding
of the revenue opportunity open
to suppliers that provide services
in such areas.
Telecommunications
Assistance for Local Government &
Regional Agencies
Regional agencies and local government
are facing a variety of challenges
and opportunities from rapidly changing
ICT performance, availability and
cost. We analyse the plethora of business,
technology and procurement issues
for Local Government and Regional
Agencies.
Broadband in
in Rural Areas
This is the acclaimed report written
by Intercai for the Countryside Agency
that reviews 13 community network
projects and identifies some of the
key lessons to be learnt from them.
It includes a appraisal of broadband
technologies.
